Canadian Intensive Care Foundation

The Intensive Care Unit is the area of a hospital where patients with severe, life-threatening problems receive care. It is where the most desperate medical cases are found. Intensive Care medicine is also an area in which clinical research is most valuable; where knowledge can have the biggest impact on who survives, and who does not.

The Canadian Intensive Care Foundation (CICF) is dedicated to improving the care of critically ill patients by raising funds for important clinical research. Through research, knowledge is aquired to help the most critically ill. CICF also strives to educate health professionals responsible for intensive care. For the knowledge acquired must be in their caring hands if it is to make an impact in patient’s lives.

Scott Levey sustained a head concussion over the long weekend which due to complications has required intensive care treatment. Canadians are envied around the world for their critical care research and the type of work done has had immediate applications in Canada and around the world. Scott Levey is fortunate to be receiving this high level of care and although his prognosis is good, he will remain in hospital for some length of time.
